Easy Pillow Cases

Seasonal throw pillows can be fun. But this one was never going to be used outside of December.

I decided a while ago that it needed a new case, but it wasn't until I was looking through some fat quarters at Wal-Mart that inspiration struck. I matched a patterned fat quarter with a plain one for the back. First, I washed and ironed both pieces, then I hemmed both of the narrow ends of my back piece.

I folded it over and cut it into two uneven pieces.

Then lined those pieces up over the front of my pillow, hems overlapping.

Next, I trimmed the quarters to better fit my skinny pillow.

I pinned and sewed all of the way around, then turned the case right-side-out. Inset the pillow through the slit in the back.

And, voila, you have a pillow.

Kelle found one that spoke to her, too.

And the total project cost for both? <$5. :)
